Armageddon     Armageddon

We all may not think we live in a time where technology controls all. But it controls everything from your food being fresh, to me being able to write this blog, it is all controlled by technology. We have evolved so far in the past 10-15 years but the changes have been ‘slow’ some even unnoticeable, so I just want to share this eye opening story with you.

We All Live in Tech World

While surfing the net one day I came across a extremely funny video of “Beaker” (from the Muppets), I wanted to share this with one of my friends, so all I had to do is open up MSN, and say “LOL look at this:”. Instantly my friend was able to look at the video and laugh along side with me. MSN actually stand for The Microsoft Network, it was launched in 1995, at first when we found a cool site we would send it by email and hope that they read it and reply back to you, and then you would talk about it the next day. Now we just double click on an Icon, and a window pops up and you are ‘chatting’ with the person just like you are next to them. All this instantaneous communication is great but it can have its down falls to. Windows Live has gotten to be so much like the real deal that people even seem to make friends over it. While this might end up being great for some it can lead to dangerous and life threatening issues for others. And so the ‘creeper’ was born, stalking innocent school girls (or boys’ 0-o) and claiming to be he/she is not. In another route technology also has other bad implications as well. Now a day if you are tech savvy enough and you get the bank account number of that one really rich man, you can pretty much clean out his whole entire funds in matter of days but technology has a trick up his sleeve and that is SECURITY. I am sure Bill Gates has his money locked away, in a bank account with a 1024Bit encryption that changes every couple days, which will take life times to crack.

What Has Happen To Us

The Internet was first perceived in 1946 by Murray Leinster. He would have probably never imagined his vision on such a LARGE scale. In February, 1958, the Internet was first used to connect country-wide radar systems together in the USSR to monitor enemy Bombers. Yet all that ‘good’ didn’t last for long, “when people are given something new, some people find good ways of using it and others bad ways”. The Internet for example, the plus side is that it brings the world together, the bad side is we steal, hurt, and intimidate others. In the 1970’s when the WorldWideWeb was first used, if someone came up to me and said ‘I am going to hack your computer and delete all your files’ I would have just said ‘well then, good luck with that on your dial-up connection’. If someone said that to me today I would pretty much get as many firewalls up and running and quickly close all unnecessary ports and then just disconnect from the internet all together. But since I am so strongly tied to the internet, I would find other means of stoping the hacker.

Where We Stand Today

Today we revolve around technology at least in North America, but 40 years ago technology revolved around us. When I say that I mean today while you are reading this blog you are using a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, internet, modem, and possibly even a router. Back in the old days the only way you could have read this was in a newspaper. Are lives depend on technology. For example, friends in my math class can’t go two minutes without having music blasted into their ears at substantial and unnecessary volume. Futhermore We need a refrigerator to maintain the quality of our food, a washer-dryer to clean our clothes, a microwave to heat and/or cook our food. For example a electrical stove to cook a yummy double chocolate cake, its ingredients were processed and fabricated at a plant which was powered by electricity which is control by technology. So if we all do have a worldwide EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse: wipes out electronics and fries chips) in plane terms we would all be screwed over pretty darn quick. Men, Women, teenagers, and children in North America would go crazy: Cell phones would be down so teenagers won’t be able to Text their boy/girl friend, children won’t be able to play Neopets, and Men, and Women would go nuts because they can’t get in contact with their boss to tell them that there Laptop just fried. The World would be in a complete state of chaos no more security means thieves can steal as much as they want, even though money would be of no use. Even terrorists would have a run for their money. Everyone would blame someone else and the world would eventually go into World War III just because everyone one on Earth lost one simple thing and that is a computer chip.

The Good of the Apocalypse

If the above did happen it would do everyone on Earth a little good. It would put us all in our place: We can’t defend ourselves rather we need guns to do it for use, in which case that means a rabid chiwawa would be able to kill a human since we don’t have any hospital for vaccinations. We would have no more cars since almost all cars need some sort of chip even if you have a car that doesn’t gas stations won’t run since they use electricity. No more smog which would give tree huggers a peace of mind. No one would have a job since almost 99% of jobs use some sort of technology or electricity. No more money, stocks, or financial uses. So the Rich, the middle class, and poor would all be on the same level when it comes to finance. Where only the smart would survive and ‘dad’s little girl’ would need to figure out how to survive by herself. The world would rebuild, we would repair everything and start over but we would need to do it by hand, and how many people can honestly they can make a chip without some other source of technology or even without electricity.

Finally

Well that pretty much does it for my rant; I hope this has shed some light on our so called perfect world. Where one thing stands between peace/harmony and total and utter chaos: The Computer Chip.

Well First of let me start by saying that being in the market for buying a ps3 is quite difficult. You have to choice whether or not you want to buy an 80GB or wait for the next one. 60GB and 20GB no longer exist which is a shame since those were the best models and with the recent price drop of the 80GB and the cancellation of the 40 GB who knows what Sony will do next.

Welcome back for part two of my segment on “The Right Console”(Click Here For Part One). While in my last segment I talked about the goods, now it’s time to talk about the bad. The Wii, 360, and the PS3 all have their own unique flaws but which can you live with?
