As far as reviews go this is a no brainer right? Or is it? Modern Warfare 2 is probably the most anticipated game of 2009 and it did not disappoint, right away….

Well, it has arrived and it was fun, but its time to head back to Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2. You may ask your self, what happen? Did it suck? The answer is no, it did not. Its just that I have been playing this game for the past 3 years now. You will probably tell me: “You idiot, its basically Call of Duty 6, no shit it .” That’s not it though, in past years it was the same deal WW1 or WW2 or some random battle. When they made the jump from 3-4, World War to Modern War, to a new era it wasn’t so noticeable because of this paradigm shift. However, This time its just repeating itself once again. Modern Warfare 2 may have all the new [Kill Streaks] and [Death Streaks], guns, graphics, and explosions.  However, it lacks one fundamental thing and that is: the want of coming back to it the next day. While all the new features do make it better it is the core game play which is so repetitive. If you died over and over last year then don’t expect any different in MW:2. Except this time you can not drop a grenade every time you die but instead you will have 3 Death Streaks which you can use. Death Streak’s occur on your 3rd consecutive death. However,  If you were ridiculously good in MW:1 then in 2 you will have a Gunship which you have command over on your 11th consecutive kill or you can choose an Air Ship which gives you command over the AC130, these are the new Kill Streaks along with many more. MW:2 does have redeeming factors however but these factors were present in MW:1 and COD1-3 as well. Its still fast paced and tailored for the twitchy gamer.  Also, the single player never has a dull moment, every level is a “WOW” or a “O-0″. What is not redeeming is the fact that the hit detection, and glitches are still in abundance, its like a fish in a barrel. In fact, this time the glitches are even worse, it more or less breaks the game. Such as a glitch to explode upon death which is the Javelin Glitch or a glitch which allows you to Float Around, Youtube them and see for yourself. Some of these have been fixed but it is still fundamentally flawed when it comes to shooting, not consistent at all.

So what is it then, what keeps this game from achieving the gloriously high stature of MW:1? It is just that, MW1. So while this is a great BUY and I will 100% recommend this to any of my friends, I will also leave them with a stern warning. Do NOT blame me when you start playing Uncharted 2 or Halo 3 again 2 months later.
