In entertainment and media culture there have always been wars between two rivals. Xbox 360 Vs PlayStation 3, The Local News Papers, Iphone Vs Blackberry Vs Android. Now there is a new battle in the arena: Bing Vs Google.

If you do not know I am a Google Fanboy. I use everything Google: Docs, Calender, Reader, Web Browser, will be using the Phone, and when it is released the OS. I remember the first time I heard of Google, it was in grade 2, I thought someone had spelt goggles wrong. I tried it that day and my work flow was so much faster it blew me away; I have never looked back. Nearly a decade later I am still using it. This week I have faced my worst enemy and have willing tried siding with it. Just for the purpose of this blog I had begun a week long journey using Bing. Today will be the end and I have surprising News. Bing is not as bad as they say. People make fun of it and I can see why, Bing is not that original or bright of a name.

Bing has many things to offer. The Video play back in the search field, the picture preview. Couple things were stolen from Google Labs I suspect. The “Similar Images” within a picture search has been tried by Google but not implemented as of yet. The search engine is snappy, and has all of the basic functions as Google. Bing is a great search engine and I would continue using it but not as long as they follow MS tradition:

Free at first and then you pay for a Silver or Gold membership. Or they Lock you into using it. Or they block out other Browsers from using it such as Chrome. Or Not enough support for other clients.

Doing a 1000 word review would be pointless. The reason you are reading this is because you want to know how stacks up against Google. The just of it is that it is similar to Google and has all the functions. If you use Hotmail and MS clients you will be more than happy. If I wasn’t so attached to Google’s other Aps I would switch over. I have used Docs and Gmail for too long to use 2 different media clients. So for now I will continue using Google out of convenience. Looking at the future of Google I don’t think I will ever switch to MS -the only product I am currently using of there’s is MSN and that is not out of choice but necessity; my friends don’t like change-. Google Wave is one of those things that I am looking forward to.

There you have it. If you use Microsoft Clients you will love Bing. But if you are making the switch to Google and Cloud Computing stick with Google.
