Predicting the future of gaming is very objective. But one thing is for certain, our children will not be going to their local EB Games to buy their Halos and Call of Dutys. They will be using Fibre wire to transfer there games from Steam, Xbox Market Place, PlayStation 3 Store, and new services like OnLive. How do I know this for sure? Well lets see.

Everyone who has an Xbox or PlayStation of this generation or previous has at least once sold a game back to EB Games at their ridicoulously low prices to save up for a game. Then you go back maybe two weeks later to buy your game you look on the shelf and low and behold you see your game at near retail price marked as ‘Used’. Little did you know that the game company will not being seeing any of the revenue when someone buys said ‘Used’ game. Game companies are getting mad at EB Games for doing this. This is where the game services like Steam and OnLive step it. When you buy a game from them you can not sell it back, it is yours for the remainder of your life. I myself will never be buying a game from EB Games ever again. I am downloading at no bottle neck. What is a bottle neck? Something which prevents you from doing something at optimum level. Like air resistance in a plane or car and in my case download sites such as Download.com.  When I download from Steam I get 1.2MB/s thats astonishing considering when downloading from Download.com I only get 700-800 KB/s. (1024 KB=1 MB) Our children will most likely be downloading at Gigabytes per second. So for them the only bottle neck will be when October hits. Do they really want to spend an extra $20 for going over their bandwidth cap? They don’t have to wait 20 minutes (which is really not that long for 4Gs).
Given the expansion of the Downloadable game market this doesn’t seem to far from the here and now. I predict no Xbox 720 of PS4 within the next 6 years at least. So game companies are going to want the most out their product. EB Games is going to go out of business and I for one have no sympathy for the owners. Never smack the hand that feeds you, EB Games are not just smacking the hand they are spitting and stepping on it.
