This is a tutorial on how to use a wireless PC for you internet on your PS3 via crossover. Also Works with wired connection. Just ignore setting up the wireless.

Most Ps3 owners may know by now that the Ps3’s wireless card is crap. And most websites say use an Ethernet cable and then you think to yourself “O but if it was only that easy” Or “why would I use wireless if I could connect via hardwire?” But today I will put those long nights of downloading and wafting 2 hours for a demo to install to rest.

What you will need:
1. Computer near your ps3.
2. Crossover cables (NOT a normal CAT 5 or Ethernet/Hardwire cable. (NOT the cable which comes with your ps3))
3. Wireless
4. Access to your router
5. Vista (XP owners can use this, would be easier for you anyways or you already have it going, and I am sure this is only happening with Vista)

To start off you will need to go to your routers Home page. To change the IP of your router

1. Go to the bottom right of your task bar.
2. Right Click on the two computers with a blue ball in the middle and click Network and Sharing Center
3. From there go to “View computers and devices” Right click on your router and click “View Device Webpage”
4. When you reach your routers webpage you will be prompt to enter your password.
If you don’t know it then:
• Find your router and find the rest button, push it in with a pin for about 30 seconds all the lights should do something weird like flash/turn of flash.
• Then when you are prompted for your user name password:
User Name: Admin
Password: Leave it blank just hit “Enter”
5. From there you will need to find your routers IP and change it. Vista Reserves 192.168.0.1 for the sharing of connection. So change it to 192.168.0.2. Hit apply.
6. Then check to make sure that DHCP is enabled.
7. Exit the browser.

Next you will need to activate a few services.

1. Click Start then Click Run Or Hold down the Windows Key and press ‘R’.
2. Now type in Services.msc. and click Ok.
3. Next Find all these. Start Them ALL
4. Right click them and Click Properties and

Start Type: Automatic
It must be automatic otherwise you will need to start these services every time. You want to connect:

Application Layer Gateway Service
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Plug And Play
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Telephony

Now you need to enable ICS (Sharing).
1. Go To “Network and Sharing Center”
2. Click “Manage Network Connections”
3. Right Click your “Wireless Connection” and click Properties. You should now see a window pop up and will be in “Networking” tab. You should also see a “Sharing” Tab, click it.
4. Hit the Check box that says “Allow Other networks users to connect though this computer’s Internet connection”
5. If that doesn’t work:

• Go back to the Networking tab.
• Click “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”
• Then click properties (near “Uninstall and install” )
• Make sure Both “Obtain an IP address automatically” and Obtain DNS server address automatically” are checked.
• If this doesn’t solve the problem then let me know what the error is in a comment and I will try to help.
6. If it works then you are set (if you get a IP Conflict Error don’t worry) But if the Next step doesn’t work then this is what is preventing it) (Tell me your problem in a comment)

Now the moment of truth:
1. Connect your crossover cable to the computer and then other end to the PS3 (First make sure in the Manage Network Connections that Local Area Connection or the other connection is enable you will need it to be. Right click hit ‘Enable’ if you see it.
2. Go on your ps3. Go to Settings then Network Settings
3. Then click Custom-Wired Connection-Auto Detect-Automatic-Do Not Set-Automatic-Automatic-Do Not Use-Enable(Basically you shouldn’t need to manually enter anything in, just automatic) (And enable UPnD if you want to share stuff from your computer Videos, Music…. If it gives you a weird caution ignore it.). Then test to make sure everything works if it fails let me know where and I will try to help.
4. If everything is good to go then your set. If not comment your problem and I will try to help.

Hope that helped out.
